    • We carefully follow all COVID-19 rules and restrictions. We suggest all participants to bring a safety mask and to wear it if current protocols require it.
    Itinerary

    You will start your journey in Varenna, from where you will be driven down the Lecco branch to the east.

    Our first stop will be at one of the area’s boutique winery to taste unique Italian wines, including Montevecchia’s famous “Brigante“. Meet Claudia the local wine producer and visit her wine cellar. She will tell you the story of her family and how it all began along with a relaxed and informative explanation and tasting of Montevecchia wines accompanied with delightful cheeses and cold cuts.

    A nice 45-minutes drive will bring you up the mountains to discover the Valsassina Valley on the Eastern side of the lake. Carozzi is a boutique dairy and cheese producer. It has been operating in Valsassina since 1960 and has developed an internationally award-winning range of hand-made dairy and goat milk cheeses that have become Italian classics. Here you will visit their local production site, learning about all the processes of  conservation and “salatura” of one of the most renown cheese of the Valley: Taleggio. A delicious tasting of their top quality cheeses, including gorgonzola, latteria, primo sale and goat milk products will be served at a beautiful setting with mountain view, complete with a  risotto or pasta dish and a glass of local wine.

    Our driver will then pick you up to drive back down to the lake following a panoramic mountain road leading to the beautiful town of Bellano. End of tour will be in Varenna.

    If you wish, the tour can be custom made with pick up in Como and surroundings, drop off in Como by car from Varenna or from Bellagio to give you some free time to enjoy these little gems, or even with an amazing watertaxi cruise back from Varenna to Como. Ask for our suggestion!

    • A tour guide is not included
    • Pick-up and drop-off  from a different location is available upon request and quoted separately
    • Souvenirs. Our guide will be glad to point you to the best spots to buy local gifts
    • Extra food & drinks and what is not explicitly listed in the programme must be paid separately​

    What should I bring and know?

    • The tour is not recommended for pregnant women and children due to alcohol consumption
    • No pets allowed
    • A Water Bottle, alternatively you can purchase one near the meeting point
    • Comfortable walking shoes and clothes are advisable. Please bring light jacket/jumper as temperature in the cellars could be cold
    • Sun hat and sun screen are strongly recommended in summer months
    • The tour runs rain or shine.​ If rain is forecast, bring an umbrella, as you will be outside for most of the tour
    • ​Not wheelchair accessible
    • Please advise any specific dietary requirements at time of booking

    What is your cancellation policy?

    • SHARED TOURS 72 hours free cancellation & full refund before the tour’s date
    • PRIVATE TOURS 7 days free cancellation & full refund before the tour’s date
    • We charge your credit card approx. 15 days before the tour,  no refund will be possible if you cancel later than 72 hours (for shared tours) or 7 days (for private tours) before the start of your tour
    • No refunds if you do not turn up for the tour (our tours start promptly, the guide shall not be able to linger)
    • ​If you need to reschedule your booked tour we will do our best to accommodate your request. Please contact us directly by email. In case we cannot meet your needs and you decide to cancel, no refund shall be given for tours that are cancelled with less than 72 hours (shared tours)/7 days (private tours) notice.
